Programming Language Design: an everyday story of engineering folk
I samarbejde med Ingeniørhøjskolen i Århus inviterer vi til på-vej-hjem-møde med professor Cliff Jones, Newcastle University, UK.
Abstract
Programming languages can be regarded as huge aids to productivity in an important and expensive field of endeavour or as a mess that learns little from successes in the field (let alone from disasters!).
The author will take a middle view and try to view some of the key steps in language evolution as good engineering. Given his background (VDL, VDM, denotational semantics and back to SOS), he will also review the impact of formal methods and how this might be increased in the future.
